Annie Lagerlef, 84, of Rural Wann, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the Caney Nursing Center, Caney, Kansas.

Annie Katherine Shows was born October 29, 1932, in Matherville Mississippi, the first of three children to Johnie Ramey Shows and Winifred [[]Mathers} Shows. She was raised in Matherville, attending schools there, and graduating from Waynesboro High School in 1949, Wayne County, Mississippi. She attended Bethel College, Clarksville, Kentucky, and graduated from the University of Alaska (Anchorage) with a bachelor's degree in Education.

In the early 1950's she was working in Washington, D.C. as a secretary for the Department of the U.S. Navy, when she met her future husband, Donald Lagerlef. They were married July 24, 1955, in her hometown of Matherville. Together the couple raised their four children - David, Robert, Steven and Donna.

Over the years Annie and Don lived in Lindsey, Oklahoma, Denver, Colorado, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Anchorage, Alaska, before returning to Wann, Oklahoma for the past thirty-five years.

Annie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening of all kinds, hiking,, and swimming. She always kept herself active. Her most valued time was spent as teacher and home-maker. Her family proclaimed unanimously that she will be best remembered for smile, laughter, and her love.

Blessed to continue her memory are her husband, Donald, of the home, Sons David (wife Christine) Lagerlef, Robert (wife Rebecca) Lagerlef, Steve (wife Brenda), and daughter Donna (husband Andrew) Josephson; seven grandchildren; brother Thad Shows Sr.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Flora Hoeper Goldstein.

Family visitation greeting friends will be Sunday, January 1, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00am, Monday, January 2, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Caney, Kansas, with Pastor Jonathan Schultz officiating.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the expressions of love and affection, and especially for the prayers at this difficult time. "Thank you for caring."
