CANEY, KANSAS
Bill Love, 80, of Caney, passed away November 24, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Sedan, Kansas. Bill suffered a debilitating stroke in 2008 and since then had resided in several area nursing homes.

Billy Murrell Love was born January 4,1936, in Pampa, Texas the 2nd of 4 children born to Murrell (Mutt) Elisha Love and Dolores Pauline [[]Fritchle] Love. He was raised in Pampa, TX and Rogers, AR. Bill graduated from Rogers High School. He attended Coffeyville Community Junior College in 1954-55 and played Football for the CCJC Ravens.

He married the love of his life, Sarah Jane (Sally) Duckworth on September 9, 1956, at the Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville. The couple moved to Caney in 1957 where Bill worked for Caney Cleaners. Bill purchased Caney Cleaners and Glo Cleaners in Coffeyville and started several other businesses including, Love's Uniform Rental, Men's Work Clothes, Razorback Rentals, Shoppers Surplus, Lovey's Glovies, BBQ Place, Caney Bed and Breakfast and Caney Antique Mall. The couple raised their four children -Diana, Lisa, Robert, and Jennifer - in Caney.

Bill loved Caney and was Mayor for two terms from 1983-1987. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, football and was an avid quail hunter. For many years Bill worked the chain gang at the high school football games. He was a member of the Caney Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Quail Unlimited and was a Caney volunteer fireman, and was a member of the Kansas National Guard. Bill will be best remembered as an enthusiastic entrepreneur, and is known for the Arkansas 1[%]. He was hard working, fun loving, creative, always keeping a positive attitude. He loved the Lord and helping others.

Survivors blessed by his memory are his wife, Sally, of the Caney home; daughter Diana (husband Jeff) Graham, Bartlesville, OK, and daughter Jennifer (husband John) Hallaway, Bartlesville, OK; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; Sisters Karen Curry, Kathy High, Debi Maestri. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin, sister Joyce, son Robert in 2009, daughter Lisa Rigby in 2008;

Bill will lie in state at Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney, beginning Monday, November 28, where friends may sign the memorial register. Visitation services will be held Tuesday, November 29, with family greeting friends between 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 30, at Caney Orthodox Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Tim Black officiating. Burial to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney.

Memorial donations are suggested to Harry Hines Memorial Hospice designated in memory of Bill Love.
