Clydene Arabella Smith, 83, of Coffeyville, KS and formerly of rural Caney, KS passed away with her loving husband at her side, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, KS.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, KS with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 12, 2018 at Potts Chapel in Caney, KS from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm where family will receive friends.
Clydene was born July 31, 1934 in Oktaha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Andrew and Ethel (Yagers) Chambers. She was the fourth child born to this union. Clydene attended elementary and high school in Checotah, Oklahoma.
Clydene married Euary Smith January 8th, 1954. They made their home in Tulsa, OK and in 1956 they moved to Caney, KS and then to Copan, OK until they relocated to the farm outside rural Tyro, KS in 1967. They lived on the farm for 48 years until moving to Windsor Place in Coffeyville, KS in 2015. During her career, Clydene worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Directory Assistance Operator in Tulsa, OK for 8 years and Loves Uniform Rental in Caney, KS for 16 years.
Clydene was an active member of Tyro Christian Church. Some of Clydene's favorite activities were reading her Bible, home demonstration's club, cooking, sewing, quilting, crocheting and country music. She liked the colors pink, lavender and blue and could often be found with color coordinating jewelry accessories. At Windsor Place, Clydene loved watching television and attending special events. She also liked spending time with visitors, friends and residents. Clydene enjoyed every moment of the day beside her husband, Euary, saying, "I am really glad we are together, I love him with every beat of my heart."
Clydene is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Euary of Coffeyville, KS, a son, Duwayne Smith, and a daughter, Phyllis Jaramillo, both of Texas, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Maxine Doss of California, and a brother, John Chambers of Texas. A memorial gift in Clydene's name to the Tyro Christian Church can be left with Potts Chapel of Caney, KS.
