Dorothy Rinck

Dorothy Pauline (Wilson) Rinck passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Cremation has taken place with Potts Chapel of Caney. A memorial gathering is scheduled for Friday, May 10th at the Caney Community Center from 6:30-8:30pm. Memorials are suggested to the Caney Zoo or the Niotaze Community Center and can be left with the funeral home.

Dorothy was born October 19, 1928 on the family farm northwest of Niotaze, Kansas. She was the daughter of Oney and Flora (Bolen) Wilson. Dorothy was one of six daughters. She helped in all manners on the family farm, including helping her dad milk the cow's morning and night. She even skipped school at times to help on the farm. She enjoyed fun times with her sisters riding the buggy down the hill. Dorothy graduated Peru High School in 1948. She met Jim Rinck early on because his family lived across the road from hers. After graduation, Dorothy married Jim on February 20, 1949. They began farming three miles northwest of Niotaze. Two years later, they moved northeast of Niotaze along the Caney River, which bordered Jim's parents farm. And in 1971, they built a new home.

Dorothy liked to garden, can beans, tomatoes, freeze corn and peas, etc. Food had to last until the next growing season. She loved her flower beds, roses, and sewing. She made most of her daughter, Audrey's clothes and many quilts from the cloth feed sacks. Dorothy was a very good cook. When farming was busy, you would find her out on the tractor, while the kids were at school. She also enjoyed going to the
Drive In theater, county fairs and rodeos. Jim and Dorothy were on a couple's winter bowling league for many years. The family enjoyed fishing in Kansas, Minnesota and Canada. Later they traveled to Wisconsin, Old Mexico, Bull Shoals and Arkansas to fish. After Audrey and Steve left the nest, they purchased an RV to go camping and fishing including traveling to Canada and Alaska. Dorothy got her wish to see the rodeos in Las Vegas and to watch the Rose Bowl Parade. They retired from farming in 1989. Together they would begin new hobbies and woodworking. Dorothy made all sorts of decorations for the house.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Jim, her two children; Audrey Agin of Emporia, Kansas and Steve Rinck of Niotaze, Kansas, four grandchildren; James Rinck, Clint and Clayton Agin, and Cory Ellison, nine great grandchildren and one remaining sister, Geraldine Jay of Copan, Oklahoma.

Preceding her in death were her parents and sisters; Mary, Lillie, Virginia and Betty.
