Wayne Bryant journeyed home to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 17, 2016, from the Caney (Kansas) Nursing Center.
Emery Wayne Bryant was born September 26, 1933 at Slick, Oklahoma, the second of four children to Willie R. and Reva Alta [[][[]]Kitterman] Bryant.
He was raised in the Depew, Oklahoma area attending schools there, graduating Depew High School in 1951. He attended college at Central State. In 1956 Wayne was inducted into the United States Navy, received training in Personnel Administration, was honorably discharged from active duty in 1957, and completed his Naval Reserve obligation in 1962.
In 1955 he married Molly Deese. To this union was born their two daughters, Kimberly Jean and Kay Ann. The couple later divorced. Wayne was employed for over thirty years with the Sun Refinery in Tulsa, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying an airplane, and reading history. Family related he had a special way with animals, his furry friends. He was a member of the Baptist church throughout his life, enjoyed singing the ole traditional hymns that he grew up with, and was an avid reader of his Holy Bible.
Loved ones blessed by his memory are his daughters Kim Tackett and husband Jerry of Owasso, OK, and Kay Iten and husband Charles of Tulsa, OK; nine grandchildren: Jonathan, Marcus, Michael, David, Jennifer, Kimberly, Rachel, Stephen, and Anna; nine great grandchildren: Reid, Ryker, Grady, Kamber, Daxton, Paisley, Colton, Kaylin, and Jason; one sister Betty Holsinger of Cushing, and one brother Bill Bryant of Depew. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Bryant, and his best buddy of ten years, "Smokey", the Sheltie.
Graveside Celebration of Life service are scheduled for 2:00, Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing, Oklahoma. Interment will follow under the direction of Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations to the organization of choice, specified in memory of Wayne Bryant.
