Ray L. Myers, age 69 of Copan, Oklahoma died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.


Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Dewey Christian Church with the Pastor Casey Parham officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Elk Falls Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas.


Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas.


The family has suggested memorials to the Dewey Christian Church or the Wounded Warriors Foundation and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas.


Ray L. Myers was born May 11, 1947 in Winfield, Kansas to Ora and Verda (Keeth) Myers. He grew up in Elgin, Kansas and graduated from the Sedan High School in 1965. Ray served in the Army National Guard. He was a jack of all trades working for Reda Pump, Standard Pump, Cessna, Washington County before working with his son at Myers Trucking retiring in 2007.


On July 30, 1981 Ray married Lynda Cain in Elk Falls, Kansas. Ray was a member of the Dewey Christian Church and loved to fish, golf, hunt, do wood working and most of all having block fights with the grandchildren.


Survivors include his wife Lynda of the home; three children Michelle Jones of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Sonya Bruening and husband Chad of Grove, Oklahoma and Gus Myers and wife Annie of Sedan, Kansas; two step children Angie Payne and husband Kevin of Lyndon, Kansas and David Kill of Lyndon, Kansas; one brother David Myers of Caney, Kansas; two sisters Darlene Johnson of Ocala, Florida and Hazel Wallace of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren Jacob Payne, Jennifer Payne, Justin Payne, Kristen Payne, Joshua Payne, Cy Bruening, Abby Myers, and Lizzie Bruening; two great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Lorene Craft.
