Viro Blakemore, 82, of Sedan, formerly of Niotaze, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Sedan Pleasant Valley Nursing Home, after a long and happy life.
Viro Winfred Blakemore was born December 7, 1933, at Havana, KS, the fifth of ten children born to Tora Blakemore and Sylvia Marie (Phillips) Blakemore. He was raised in the Niotaze and Wayside area, attending Niotaze, Tyro, and Wayside Schools. He was retired from the Winfield Hospital.
Family relates Uncle Viro loved to be outdoors. He was a gifted conversationalist, keeping himself well informed on current topics and history. Viro was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He will be best remembered as a loving brother and a favored Uncle. He was very family oriented, independent, and caring for all his family and friends.
Blessed to carry on his memory are his sisters Viola Jackson, Bartlesville, Okla, Nadine Pennell Wichita, Kans, Ellen Ross, Wagoner, Okla, and June Ranes, Caney, Kans. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and much more family than can be recalled here. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside celebration of life services are scheduled for 3:00pm, Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Havana Cemetery, with Keith Springer, Chaplain for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, officiating.
